Abbott's FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus is a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) that measures interstitial glucose every minute and requires no fingerstick blood glucose calibration. It is worn for 14 days (FreeStyle Libre 3) or 15 days (FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus) on the back of the upper arm. The device features optional alarms for low glucose, high glucose, and signal loss.
The device communicates real-time data continuously with the smartphone app or Libre 3 reader, via Bluetooth. The Libre app is compatible with iOS and Android. Glucose levels are displayed as numeric values as well as trends in the Libre app. Data can be shared with care partners via the LibreLinkUp companion app or healthcare professionals via LibreView cloud-based software.
FreeStyle Libre 3 is compatible with the iLet, t:slim X2, and twiist insulin pumps.
FreeStyle Libre 3 is approved for ages 4+. FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus is approved for ages 2+. It is approved for use during pregnancy.
