Omnipod DASH is a tubeless insulin pump system designed for people with type 1 or insulin-requiring type 2 diabetes. It delivers insulin continuously through a small wearable device called a Pod, which is controlled by a separate handheld device called the Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM).
Omnipod DASH is indicated for anyone with insulin-requiring diabetes.
- Tubeless pod design: The waterproof Pod (1.53 x 2.05 x 0.57 inches, ~0.9 oz) holds up to 200 units of U-100 insulin (Humalog, NovoLog, Admelog), worn for up to 72 hours, eliminating tubing.
- Personal Diabetes Manager (PDM): Controlled via a separate, rechargeable touchscreen PDM (5.2 x 2.4 x 0.65 inches) with Bluetooth, displaying insulin data but not CGM readings
- Insulin delivery: Supports customizable basal rates (0.05 U/hr. increments, up to 30 U/hr.) and bolus doses (0.05 U increments), requiring manual glucose inputs from a separate meter or CGM
- No CGM integration: Unlike Omnipod 5, DASH does not connect to CGMs (e.g., Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre), relying on user-entered glucose values for bolus calculations via the PDM’s bolus calculator
- Approved for ages 2+: FDA-cleared for type 1 and type 2 diabetes, suitable for children and adults, with data syncing to Glooko for remote monitoring and sharing with health care professionals
