Glyset (miglitol) is a type 2 diabetes oral medication in the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of drugs. It blocks the breakdown of starches in the intestines, decreasing the amount of glucose that passes into the blood after a meal.

Glyset is available as 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg tablets for oral use. It is approved for adults with type 2 diabetes.

  • Glyset delays your body's digestion of carbohydrates to slow the absorption of glucoses into your blood after a meal. This prevents periods of hyperglycemia and helps to improve blood glucose management in adults with type 2 diabetes.
  • Glyset is usually taken three times per day with the first bite of each main meal.
  • Common side effects may include stomach discomfort, diarrhea, and gas.
