FAQs about Insulin Delivery Patches

An insulin delivery patch is a wearable device that delivers insulin directly under the skin. They are operated by buttons that "click" to let you know that the bolus was delivered. These patches are thrown away when empty. It is a lower tech option than insulin pumps and is more discreet than using a syringe or insulin pen. Depending on the model and your dosing, an insulin delivery patch will be worn for 1 to 3 days and then replaced.

Some models of insulin delivery patches are used for bolus insulin dosing only. Other models offer continuous basal insulin at a preset rate and on-demand boluses.

If your insulin delivery patch falls off while you are wearing it, throw it away (along with the insulin still inside of it) and start a new patch.

Not at this time. Current insulin delivery patches aren’t made with the technology needed to connect with your other devices.
