Twiist is a next-generation AID system designed for people with type 1 diabetes, ages 6 and up. Developed by Sequel Med Tech, it’s powered by the Tidepool Loop algorithm and features the Deka insulin pump, which is the first pump to precisely measure both the volume and flow of every micro-dose of insulin delivered.
- Automated insulin delivery: Powered by Tidepool Loop, twiist adjusts insulin every five minutes using CGM data (e.g., Dexcom G6, FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus, Eversense 365), predicting glucose six hours ahead for tight management (87–180 mg/dL target range)
- iiSure™ technology: Uses sound waves to measure insulin volume and flow at four checkpoints, detecting occlusions up to nine times faster than other AID systems, ensuring accurate micro-dosing
- Flexible customization: Allows retroactive carb entry adjustments, food-specific bolus settings (e.g., “lollipop” for fast carbs, “pizza” for slow), and pre-meal/workout presets for personalized diabetes management
- Apple device control: The first AID system controllable via iPhone and Apple Watch, with a ~3-inch touchscreen pump (estimated) and 300-unit insulin reservoir (Humalog), enhancing user convenience
- Compact and discreet: Weighs under 2 oz, holds 300 units, and offers flexible wear options (e.g., clip, pocket, adhesive in development), FDA-cleared for ages 6+ with type 1 diabetes
