Precose (acarbose)

Precose (acarbose ) is a type 2 diabetes oral medication in the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor class of drugs. It blocks the breakdown of starches in the intestines, lowering the rise in blood glucose after meals. This medication is available as a generic (acarbose) and as a brand name (Precose). Because type 2 diabetes medications act in different ways to lower blood glucose levels, doctors will often prescribe multiple drugs. Several of the more popular combinations of oral drugs can be prescribed together in a single pill. Each medication has its own side effects. Read labels carefully to be sure you know what they are.
