G6 CGM System

G6 CGM System

Dexcom

Users can get real-time continuous glucose monitor (RT-CGM) data and alerts on their smart device or dedicated receiver with the Dexcom G6 CGM. Real-time CGM data can be viewed on a smart device and receiver alone or in combination, as well as part of automated insulin delivery (AID) systems, like the Tandem Control IQ. In addition, the Apple Watch and various Android-based smart watches can be used as a secondary display device. For compatible devices, go to dexcom.com/compatibility. The built-in hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) safety alarm alerts users when glucose hits 55 mg/dL, and is always on. Customizable alerts with a number of different tones tell users when glucose falls below or rises above user-selected limits (High and Low Alerts), when their glucose is rising or falling rapidly (Rise and Fall Alerts), when it continues to be above or below user-selected limits for an extended period of time (Repeat Alert) and if CGM readings are not being received or displayed on smart device or receiver. An optional new predictive severe hypoglycemia alert (Urgent Low Soon Alert) is available to warn users 20 minutes in advance of a potential 55mg/dL or lower glucose level. No finger-stick confirmation is required when making treatment decisions, and with the Dexcom G6, no calibrations are required.

Using Dexcom’s Share and Follow apps, up to 10 designated persons (for example, caregivers) can view the user’s real-time glucose readings and alerts on select smart devices (see dexcom.com/compatibility). With a compatible Apple smartphone, Siri can be activated to read out the user’s RT-CGM reading and trend arrow information. If using a smart device, CGM data is automatically and continuously sent to the user’s Dexcom CLARITY app and Dexcom CLARITY web-based data-management software. Dexcom G6 is also compatible with Glooko and Tidepool data-management systems.
